Celebrating Krishna and Ganesha: A Time of Joy and Wisdom

This year, the festive season arrived with a double dose of celebrations as Ganesh Chaturthi and Janmashtami fell very close to each other. Our school assembly was a beautiful testament to this joyous overlap, bringing together the vibrant spirit of two of our most beloved deities.

The morning began with a quiet moment of reflection, the thought of the day: “Krishna teaches us to live with love and joy,” while “Lord Ganesha removes all obstacles and makes our journey easy.” This simple message set the tone for the entire event, reminding us that these festivals are not just about rituals but about embodying the virtues of the gods they celebrate.

The little ones were the stars of the show, starting with the Grade 2 students who captivated us with their lively dance performance to “Oh My Friend Ganesha.” Their energy was infectious, and it was a joy to see them move with such innocent enthusiasm. Following them, our K2 students stole our hearts in a charming fancy dress display. They came dressed as Lord Krishna, Radha, and Ganesha, each little one radiating cuteness and confidence.

But the real highlight was the mesmerizing Krishna Leela performance. It was not just a play; it was a journey. We were transported to Mathura, witnessing the tale of Krishna’s birth and Vasudev’s perilous journey to Gokul. The moment a student appeared as a magnificent Sheshnag shielding the baby Krishna, the entire audience was spellbound. The performance continued with delightful scenes of Makhan Chori and the beautiful Gopi Ras, leaving everyone with a smile. The K2 students returned
to the stage with a captivating dance to “Woh Krishna Hai,” a performance that truly won everyone’s heart.

The atmosphere became truly devotional as everyone joined in to sing “Achyutam Keshavam” and “Jai Ganesh,” their voices filling the school with reverence. The air was thick with the sounds of devotion, and the chants of “Hathi Ghoda Palki Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki” and “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Mangal Murti Morya” echoed through the premise.

The assembly concluded with a powerful and poignant message. We were encouraged to be more powerful and kind like Krishna and wiser like Ganesha. It was a perfect ending, a reminder that the true spirit of these festivals lies within us, guiding us to live a life filled with love, joy, and wisdom.
