A Day of Unity and Pride – 26 January Celebration

There are days that etch themselves into memory not because of grandeur, but because of
the spirit they carry. This year’s Republic Day celebration at our school was one such moment— a tapestry of patriotism, unity, and joy, woven together under the theme Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat.

The crisp January air carried a sense of anticipation. As the national flag was unfurled, the fluttering tricolour seemed to whisper stories of sacrifice and resilience. The school choir’s rendition of the national song filled the grounds with reverence.
Captain Vinayak Gijare (Retired), Indian Navy, graced the occasion. His presence alone commanded respect, but it was his words that lingered. He spoke not of battles won, but of discipline, unity, and the responsibility each citizen carries.

From kindergarten to grade 4, the stage became a carousel of patriotism. Tiny voices sang songs that carried immense meaning. When the choir presented “Har Karam Apna Karengay”, I felt goosebumps. The innocence in their voices gave the song a purity that no professional performance could replicate. It was as if the future of India itself was singing through them.

The zonal performances were a vibrant celebration of India’s soul. Bumbroo brought the rhythm of Kashmir alive. Ghoomar swirled with the grace of Rajasthan. Onam carried Kerala’s festive warmth. Bihu danced with Assam’s joyous energy.
Each performance was a reminder that India’s strength lies not in sameness, but in its kaleidoscope of cultures. Watching the children embody traditions from across the nation, I felt the theme Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat come alive before my eyes.

Just when we thought the day could not get more spirited, the teachers joined in for the finale. Their performance on “Bharat Anokha Rang Hai” transformed the stage into a living canvas of colours and emotions. The sight of mentors dancing alongside their students was more than entertainment—it was a symbol of togetherness, of learning that flows both ways.

Republic Day is often seen as a national event, but in the school ground, it became deeply personal. It reminded us that patriotism isn’t just about ceremonies—it’s about carrying the values of unity, respect, and responsibility into our everyday lives.
